Experience Spectacular Woodward Cave


One of the largest caverns in Pennsylvania, its nickname reflects its five spacious rooms, one of which, "The Hall of Statues", is 300 feet long with a 40 foot cathedral ceiling.  Experienced guides conduct a well explained, easily walked tour offering 50 minutes of nature at its best.

From the Pennsylvania Game Commission Annual population count at Woodward Cave:
Prior to 2010: 4,000 bats
2013: 24 bats
2014: 54 bats
2016: 229 bats
2017: 301 bats
2019: 532 bats
2020:  650 bats
2021:  869 bats
2022:  Over 1,000
Bats Return to Woodward Cave
The bat population of Woodward Cave was wiped out in the winter of 2010.  Almost 3,000 died that winter from White Nose Syndrome. Since that time, the bat population has slowly recovered and now numbers almost 900.

Woodward cave is the third largest hibernating site for bats in Pennsylvania.

Woodward Cave is proud of our efforts to cooperate with the reserchers and game commission experts who have helped in this effort.
